COVID-19 Coronavirus Update
for Laskey Costello Clients

In an effort to keep our clients, employees, and vendors/suppliers safe, we are taking the following steps, effective immediately.

We are no longer accepting or conducting face-to-face meetings. This reduces our staff interaction with the public and follows recommendations for “social distancing.”

Clients should mail their items to us or take advantage of the drop box located on the front porch of our office. Returning customers can upload information using our client portal, but you need to contact us by phone first before using this method.

In order to expedite the processing of your tax returns, it is important that you fill out our client organizer, especially sections 1 and 2 on the first page. This is especially true for new or first-time clients. This can save both of us from having to make multiple phone calls to obtain basic information.

Please be assured that we are doing business as usual, and we are working to complete all returns within our two-week turnaround as promised.

Thank you for choosing Laskey Costello for your tax preparation! We appreciate your patronage and look forward to serving you for years to come.

Important NEW Information for Small Businesses

US Chamber of Commerce issues summary of Coronavirus Emergency Loans for Small Business

The CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) allocates $350 billion to help small businesses keep workers employed. Known as the Paycheck Protection Program, the initiative provides 100% federally guaranteed loans to small businesses who maintain their payroll during this emergency.

If you are a small or medium size business, we urge you to download a summary of the Chamber’s Small Business Guide and Checklist.

Small Business Assistance from the US Treasury Department

If you’re a small business owner, this information is important. This link to the Assistance for Small Business site contains all the information you need to apply for help.

The Paycheck Protection Program prioritizes millions of Americans employed by small businesses by authorizing up to $349 billion toward job retention and certain other expenses.

Small businesses and eligible nonprofit organizations, Veterans organizations, and Tribal businesses described in the Small Business Act, as well as individuals who are self-employed or are independent contractors, are eligible if they also meet program size standards.

IRS Deferring Tax Payments Due to COVID-19 Outbreak

The Treasury Department and IRS are extending the due date for Federal income tax payments due April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020, for payments due of up to $10 million for corporations and up to $1 million for individuals – regardless of filing status – and other unincorporated entities. Associated interest, additions to tax, and penalties for late payment will also be suspended until July 15, 2020.

The IRS established a special webpage on IRS.gov/coronavirus to include all of the available tax-related information. This page will be updated as more information is available.

Welcome to Laskey Costello

We’re a full service accounting firm in Lakewood, Ohio. We’ve been serving businesses, government offices, nonprofits, churches and individuals since 1985.

Our firm was founded as Laskey CPA by Timothy P. Laskey and was originally located on the corner of Detroit Avenue and Warren Road.

In 1991, we purchased a building that once housed a bank on Madison Avenue, and this was our home for the next 21 years. As the business grew, we brought on more personnel, and in 2011, we determined that we needed even more space than we had on Madison Avenue to accommodate our nine employees.

In December 2011, we completed the purchase of a building on Detroit Avenue that had housed Revelations Salon & Spa. We completed an extensive interior renovation and moved into our current location in May 2012.

We do welcome the opportunity to work with you, whether it’s on a simple tax return, or engaging us to handle your company’s accounting and payroll needs.

If you’re in the neighborhood, stop in to say hello and introduce yourself! We have deep roots in Lakewood and would like to meet you.
